Frequently Asked Questions

Building Washing

What chemicals do you use?

We have several different chemicals that we use, depending on what the surface is made of, what kind of dirt it is, how much dirt build up there is etc.  Our Citrus Building wash is made up of uniquely blended biodegradable products.  Our Hypo-Wash product for stubborn dirt and growth uses Sodium Hypo-Chlorite as it's base chemical, which leaves surfaces instantly clean.

Do you use high pressure?

We generally do not use waterblasters if avoidable as waterblasting can damage the surface of the material. With our Hypo-Chem Wash, we spray the product on and wash it off using moderate to high pressure but we do not waterblast.

How much does it cost?

Obviously every building is very different, we do not charge per hour, each job is priced individually. We provide a free, no obligation quotation process where one of our representatives will meet you onsite and carry out a brief inspection. Factors that we consider are how big the building is, what kind of dirt it is, the access to the building etc. After the inspection we can then provide and accurate quotation.

Moss & Mould Treatments

What chemical do you use?

Our self developed Moss & Mould Treatment is made up of a unique selective biocide that is specifically designed to attack all types of biological growth. The product contains no caustics or bleaches and is completely biodegradable and environmentally friendly.

How long does the process take?

Moss & Mould Treatment is applied to the surface and within two hours, kills the growth completely. Its then a matter of the growth decomposing and the rain washing it away. Depending on the amount of growth and how long it has been there, will affect the time it takes for it to wash away. Some surfaces can take longer than others, in some cases you may not see any change in the surface for up to 6 months, other surfaces you may see an immediate change. It is also dependant on the amount of rainfalls after the product has been applied. We do stand by this product 100%, and if after the estimated timeframe your surface has not come clean, we will re-spray it at no cost to you.

Will the product harm gardens?

Not unless you are directly spraying it on the garden. Part of our procedure when applying Moss & Mould is that all plants and gardens be washed down before and after the treatment. In some cases plants may get minor spot burning, but this is caused by the detergent in the product, not the chemical itself. In the past we have used this product on bowling greens and in orchards so we are 100% confident that this product is safe around gardens.

How often to you need to Moss & Mould Treat?

We suggest that Moss & Mould Treatment to buildings and driveways be applied once every year depending on the situation. Roofs usually only require treatment once every 2-3 years.  The treatment has a residual affect. Every time it rains it is reactivated and will keep the surface clean until the next treatment.

Spouting Care

What is the difference between 'Spouting' and 'Guttering'.

Both terms mean the same thing. Spouting and Guttering is one and the same.

What types of spouting are there?

Basically, there are three types of spouting - plastic, metal and copper. Within these three categories, there are all sorts of options. We service the lot!

What does a standard cleaning service entail?

Our standard cleaning service entails:

I have had my roof damaged by careless people before - do you have to walk on the roof?

In most instances, we prefer to work from the roof. All of our team have extensive training in all aspects of roofing and spouting, to ensure that no damage is done.  In the case of roofs that cannot be walked on, we have industrial sized extension ladders which will allow us to work on high gutters without walking on the roof.

How often should Spouting be maintained?

Depending upon your environment (heavier leaf-fall = more regular cleaning), most spouting needs to be maintained at least every 12 months.
It is best to check the spouting before winter at the very minimum. As a special benefit to our clients, we offer a free reminder service.
As per the manufacturers warranty on some types of spouting, it must be professionally maintained every 6 months to keep the warranty current " make sure you read your fine print!

Generally we do not spray the product indoors as it leaves a sticky residue. The product is sprayed at all entrance points on the exteroir of the building, including around doors and windows, in the eaves, and around the footing of the buliding. This creates an impassible barrier to stop insects entering. In some cases if it is specifically requested that we spray indoors, we can.

This product is not harmful to animals if used correctly. It is no more toxic than household flyspray however injestion and inhalation is not advised. Once the product is dry there is no problem at all.

Up to 4 months. We suggest that application be done at the beginning of Spring and then again in February, this is the best time to catch the bugs before they get inside. However you can have this application anytime of year.

What bugs does it kill?

Most insects, specifically; Flies, fleas cockroaches, mosquitos, moths, wasps, spiders. This product will not work for ants.
